Logistics, Fleet
With rising fuel costs and tighter security issues surrounding shipping, it is paramount that you know as much as possible about the status of your fleet. Where is it? What’s on it? How healthy is it? Factor in customer drop offs - out of country transporting, key customer distribution site awareness (How many of my trailers are at my key accounts and what is their status: loaded, need emptied, empty, loaded or need returned) and general high dollar asset control (The car, truck or trailer) If these factors effect your ability to do business, control your process or service your customers efficiently then RFID enabled Logistics management, fleet management and transportation verification is right for your business.
A significant market segment exists introducing RFID technology to address the needs of controlled movement of goods, containers and customer service over a vast range of applications and distances. Typically solutions involve the tracking and location of vehicles or containers ranging from cars to trucking, from rail cars to shipping containers or logistic oriented packaging. The logical progression of the technology includes active and passive RFID, as well as integration of GPS in the near future.

Often times containers can get misplaced or the contents of the container or packaging becomes unknown. Utilizing RFID, data can be stored locally on the container - tote - skid - etc., assuring data accuracy while improving identification and eliminating confusion. RFID is also an excellent tool for use in harsh environments due to the fact it's radio frequency and does not require a line-of sight. It can also be easily integrated into many different warehouse, distribution or production environments, with multiple packaging options.
What can RFID do for Container Data Management:
• With RFID several configurations can be customized to quickly solve your specific container/asset tracking needs
• You can permanently attach RFID tags or use removable tags for reuse
• RFID provides portable data collection capabilities for a variety of container needs
• RFID information can be stored both in a database as well on the tag (i.e. container) itself.
• RFID tags can be read through a variety of materials
